The flu season is going to be complicated by the presence of COVID-19. The flu and COVID-19 share similar symptoms. This can make it hard to figure out which one you have.

- Dry cough
- Runny nose
- High temperature
- Tiredness and fatigue
Symptoms of COVID-19
Similar to the flu, many people experience a cough and high temperature. However, not everyone with Covid-19 will display obvious symptoms. Some sufferers who are found to be covid-19 positive have had no symptoms at all. Other common symptoms of Covid-19
- Cough
- Tiredness
- Body aches and pains
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Loss of taste or smell
- High temperature
Regardless of the diagnosis, anyone with urgent symptoms like difficulty breathing, chest pain or shortness of breath should seek medical attention immediately.

Management of flu symptoms
Most adults who develop the flu will have mild to moderate symptoms that can be managed at home with rest, fluids and over-the-counter medications such as aspirin or tylenol. Those with more severe symptoms like difficulty breathing must go to their local emergency room.
Management of COVID-19
For mild symptoms, COVID-19 can be managed at home with fluids, rest and over the counter pain medications if needed. Anyone testing positive for COVID-19 should self-isolate right away for at least two weeks, and we recommend anyone in the household be tested as well
For more severe symptoms, be sure to contact your doctor or urgent care center to see if any further management is needed. For serious, life-threatening symptoms, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department right away.
